Magic: The Gathering – Duel Commander Tournament

Overview

Step into the battlefield and put your Commander skills to the test in our Duel Commander Tournament. Face off in strategic one on one matches where every decision matters. Outplay your opponents, adapt to every challenge, and compete for an impressive prize pool in one of the featured events of MesaVERSUS.

Format

Duel Commander (1v1)

  • 1 vs 1 Matches
  • Starting Life: 20
  • 100 Card Singleton Deck
  • 1 Commander (or legal Partner or Background pairing)
  • Official Duel Commander Ban List applies

Tournament Structure

The tournament will use a Swiss Format, pairing players with similar records after each round.

Expected Swiss Rounds:

  • 8 to 12 Players — 3 Rounds
  • 13 to 20 Players — 4 Rounds
  • 21 to 32 Players — 5 Rounds

Final standings will be determined based on Swiss rankings.

Deck Registration

Players must submit a complete 100 card deck list before the tournament begins.

Decks must:

  • Follow Commander color identity rules
  • Comply with the official Duel Commander Ban List
  • Remain unchanged throughout the tournament

Proxies are allowed.

Match Rules

  • Best of Three (BO3)
  • 50 to 60 minute rounds
  • Five additional turns after time is called

Tournament rulings and end of round procedures will follow official Duel Commander guidelines.

  • Please arrive before the tournament start time to complete check in and deck registration.
  • Players are expected to practice good sportsmanship and treat fellow competitors with respect throughout the event.
